I’ve been brought up in a Christian environment. All our childhood we were told that the body is sinful, your minds are sinful, your desires are very sinful. And in general, if you are familiar with Catholic or Orthodox concept, you can see that it emphasizes a lot the fight against your “sinful” nature. Some measures are developed, in order to win over yourself, like fast, repentance, rites and procedures (especially in the Catholic church). I wonder how many people became a better version of themselves following Christian prescription. How many people has reached harmony, peace and enlightenment?
How can it be that you can become a better person fighting or suppressing your real self? How can you reach harmony and peace when you always deny yourself?
How can it be that you can become a better person fighting or suppressing your real self? How can you reach harmony and peace when you always deny yourself? Go against your real Self, towards an imaginary ideal painted for you by a church and society?
Your real Self has been inside of you from the very beginning. You do not need any special rules, restrictions, goals in order to live a good, content life. All you need is to connect to your real Self, and find there peace, harmony and relief.
Unfortunately, from early childhood our parents and other significant people in our life, our environment, form us according to their perception of reality, fears, anxiety and uncertainties. Our real Self is downgraded, suppressed and ignored. We are taught to live a “normal” life, to be a “good” person and a “good” citizen, to achieve certain “goals” whatever it could mean.
I was never taught how to get to know myself, to investigate my inner world, to understand who I really am. And only now I realize that this is probably the most important science in my life, to understand who I am, to learn what I like and what I need. When I was in my twenties, I have realized that I need a person, a teacher, who could show me the “path”, show me how to understand my self, how to achieve inner peace and harmony. I’ve been looking for such competent teachers for many years, traveled different places, checked different religions, met “spiritual” persons and “teachers”. Unfortunately, everything I saw was a game. Some “teachers” played wise and experienced, wearing long beard and odd clothes, speaking foggy, spiritual words and making a lot of money on naïve, kind and searching people. Other places were just complete misunderstanding: reading old books, performing some specific rites and practices, without even understanding the meaning of all these and of course, not achieving any result whatsoever. So after 20 years of searching I understood that the only teacher I can find is me, my inner Self. So instead of travelling around the world, I decided to start to travel inside of me, to discover new places, to learn new things and to find some hidden gems. In this blog I will be sharing with you my thoughts and discoveries and I am inviting you to contribute with your good questions and experiences.
